What is a Small Group?

"For where two or more are gathered in My name, I am in the midst of them." Matthew 18:20

"And let us consider how we can spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10: 24-25

A Small Group, otherwise called as D-group (Discipleship Group), is a staple in most churches nowadays. As the congregation grows in number, it is impossible for a pastor to cater to the spiritual feeding needs of each member apart from his weekly Sunday services. While to some the Sunday messages might be enough, most of us need more than just a weekly dose of His word to get us by through the week.

D-groups are designed to foster camaraderie amongst church members while studying His word at the same time. Through weekly meetings with your own Small Group, each member is encouraged in his walk in faith and through the sharing, each person is comforted by the thought that someone is looking after him, concerned about his needs and will pray for his particular petition. In return, once you achieve victory with the help of your group member’s prayers, you have your brothers and sisters to rejoice with and share your triumph.
